The Client – Skywell UK
Skywell UK is the British arm (Innovation Automotive Ltd) of a global electric vehicle manufacturer, launching a growing range of EVs, including the flagship BE11 SUV, into the UK market through a nationwide dealer network.
The Challenge
As a new entrant to the UK’s crowded EV market, Skywell faced a familiar problem for challenger brands: almost nobody was searching for them, and they were nowhere to be found for the searches that mattered. At the start of the campaign, the site ranked for just a handful of keywords, with only 9 on the first page of Google, while competing against some of the world’s most established car manufacturers for visibility.
The brief was clear: build brand awareness, establish Skywell as a credible authority in the EV space, and drive relevant users to the vehicle pages that generate enquiries, brochure downloads and demo bookings.
Our Process: The Audit
Every DMP campaign begins with an SEO audit & Blueprint that goes far beyond the industry standard, and it is the foundation on which everything else is built. Before a single change was made to the site, we produced a complete blueprint for the Skywell campaign covering:
- A full technical crawl of more than 8,000 URLs, with page-by-page recommendations across the entire site, from pages to redirect or remove through to pages needing new or improved content.
- Competitor ranking, authority and backlink analysis across the UK EV market, benchmarking Skywell against both established manufacturers and fellow challenger brands to define exactly what it would take to compete.
- Full keyword research and a content calendar mapped to buyer intent, from top-of-funnel awareness guides through to bottom-of-funnel commercial content.
- Brand mention, sentiment and reputation analysis, including how Skywell was being discussed on platforms like Reddit that now shape AI-powered search results, plus a review of negative PR affecting the brand.
- An E-E-A-T and trust factor review against Google’s quality guidelines, alongside Core Web Vitals and site performance benchmarking.
- A dealership-by-dealership local SEO strategy covering Skywell’s full UK network.
This audit is not something that is produced and forgotten about. It’s the blueprint for the entire campaign, and every piece of work that followed was executed directly from it.
What We Did
Starting in October 2025, we delivered a full-service SEO campaign combining technical, on-page, content and authority-building work:
- Strengthened the technical foundations, fixing broken links, improving metadata and on-page SEO, and restructuring the site’s architecture and URLs to target keywords more effectively.
- Optimised the key commercial pages, including the homepage, vehicle pages and dealer pages, to capture high-intent searches.
- Built out a content strategy positioning Skywell as an EV authority, with expert guides covering home charging, EV tariffs, running costs and buying advice, each linking back to the key vehicle pages.
- Ran ongoing outreach and digital PR campaigns to significantly improve the site’s authority and relevance in the eyes of search engines.
- Created locally optimised dealer pages, winning first-page rankings for dealership searches across the country.

The Results
Within nine months, Skywell’s search visibility in the UK reached an all-time high, with growth compounding month on month rather than spiking and fading.
- Search impressions grew 2,466% and organic clicks 184% year on year (June 2026 vs June 2025).
- Comparing the last six months against the previous six, impressions rose 489% and clicks 62%. Sustained growth, not a short-term spike.
- On a like-for-like basis, removing seasonality, clicks over the last three months were up 240% on the same period the year before, with impressions up 1,958%.
- Total keyword rankings grew 1,800%, from 56 keywords at the start of the campaign to over 1,000 by June 2026.
- First-page rankings grew 644%, from 9 keywords to 67, including 39 keywords entering the top 10 in the final month alone.
Crucially, these rankings weren’t just brand terms. Skywell’s content now ranks on page one for some of the most competitive searches in the EV space, including “best home EV charger” (position 3, 2,400 monthly searches), “SUV meaning” (position 5, 8,100 monthly searches) and “best EVSE” (position 6, 3,600 monthly searches), putting the brand in front of thousands of in-market EV buyers every month and cementing its position as an expert voice in everything electric.
