In March, some of our team members will be taking part in the Sheffield Half Marathon 2026, one of our region’s largest and most recognisable running events, to raise funds for an important cause.
The race takes place on Sunday, 29 March 2026, kicking off from Arundel Gate in Sheffield city centre at 9:30 am. It’s a fantastic day that brings thousands of runners and supporters together to chase a personal challenge, cheer from the sidelines, and raise money for causes that matter. Some of us have run the course before, whilst for others this will be their first half-marathon.
About the Sheffield Half Marathon
Organised by Run For All, the event follows the traditional 21.1km half-marathon distance and takes runners along a scenic, rather hilly route through Sheffield and the surrounding areas. Starting and finishing in Sheffield city centre, the course is well known for its challenge as much as its atmosphere, including a gruelling climb toward Ringinglow with views across the Peak District, enthusiastic crowd support along urban stretches, and the distinctive “triple test” sections that include both uphill and downhill segments. This makes the race a rewarding and memorable experience for participants and highlights Sheffield’s strong community spirit, with volunteers and spectators lining the route to encourage runners every step of the way.
Why We’re Taking Part
Taking part in the half-marathon is something that really reflects what the Digital Media Partner ethos is about, supporting meaningful causes and giving something positive back to the communities we work in. We take time out each year to raise awareness for causes important to us as well as support fundraising efforts, and take on a challenge together.
This year, we’re especially proud to be running in support of a charity dedicated to improving lives through support, advocacy, and research.
Supporting GIST Cancer UK
We are proudly raising funds for GIST Cancer UK, a charity dedicated to supporting people affected by Gastro-Intestinal Stromal Tumour (GIST) cancer.
GIST Cancer UK is run largely by volunteers, many of whom are patients or family members, and works to support and inform patients while funding research to improve treatment outcomes for this rare cancer.
GIST is a rare form of sarcoma that develops in the digestive system and accounts for a very small proportion of gastrointestinal tumours.
The charity provides practical help through:
- Information resources
- Support networks and meetings
- Telephone and email guidance
- Advocacy representing patient interests
These services help patients and carers navigate diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of the condition.
As the only UK charity focused solely on this disease area, it plays a vital role in supporting those living with GIST and in funding research and treatment awareness.
By taking part in the Sheffield Half Marathon, we hope to contribute to the charity’s continued work and raise awareness of the support it provides nationwide.
Making Every Mile Matter
With training already underway and fundraising activity planned in the lead-up to race day, we’re excited to share our progress and invite support from our wider network along the way. Events like the Sheffield Half Marathon show how sport, community, and charitable action can come together to make a real difference beyond the finish line, and we’re proud to be part of it, albeit slightly nervous!
